When you travel as a tourist, you want
to get the best out of your trip. You want to see the sights and miss nothing
so significant that it might render your trip void. If you visit Italy, be
prepared to have a host of activities as there is so much to see. With every
major city, there is a must-see or must-visit site. These include:
1. Campidoglio
in Florence
This is one of the seven famous hills in
Italy. This popular tourist attraction has been of service for both political
and religious reasons over the years. It was also one of the places where
people had settled during the Iron Age.
Campidoglio has two summits, the
Capitolium and the Arx, which close in the Asylum that was a place of refuge
for refugees around the world. The good thing about this site, apart from its
beauty and architecture is that it provides things to
do in Italy that are within a small radius but that are still rich in
culture and history.
2. Grand
Canal in Venice
No movie ever made about or shot in
Venice has ignored the Grand Canal. It is one of the most popular sites in the
city. It is beautiful and one of the things that has preserved Venice as a
unique destination. The Grand Canal is included in all Italy
vacations as it is the main mode of conduit.
There are no cars. People use Gondolas
to move from one point to another and this is an experience that one cannot afford
to miss. The Grand Canal can still be viewed on either one of the four bridges
that are in place for people to cross over.
3. Milan
Cathedral
As the name suggests, this cathedral is
in Milan. The cathedral is an architectural wonder in addition to the fact that
it took six centuries to complete and houses the seat of the Archbishop of
Milan.
Other than the architecture, you can
look at the sculptures, walls and windows as they are part of the tourist attractions.
Additionally, the cathedral is serene and relaxing. Some of the famous sites in
Italy are cathedrals. You therefore cannot visit Italy
without getting to see and go into a cathedral.
4. Uffizi
Gallery in Florence
You cannot go to Italy and not visit a
museum. Uffizi Gallery is one of the most famous in the world. It houses great
pieces from the Renaissance Period, outstanding artwork from some of the most
painters, including Botticelli and some of the most famous sculptures including
the Arrotino.
Italy is a beautiful country with
different cities that have a lot to offer. Unless you have months of touring
the country, you can efficiently find things to do in Italy if you focus on a
few major cities and make the most out of it. With every subsequent trip, you
can choose other cities and find cites and activities to engage in specific to
those cities.
